The word mestrual coems from the latin “menses”, which comes from the Greek word for moon, mene. The average menstraul cycle is around 28 days long, with ovulation occurring on day 14.
There are 3 distinct phases: the infertile period of menstruation, then the fertile period (during which we ovulate), followed by another infertile period, during which a fertilised egg will embed in the uterus.
For the “average woman,” (and i stress that point because it is important that you know and understand how your body very well because you may not ovulate on day 14) your period will occur 14 days after ovulation, which happens to be in the middle if your cycle is 28days long.
If your period is say, 32 days long, you can calculate your fertile time by counting backwards from the first day of your period (you will ovulate on Day 18, so your fertile time is between days 14 and 18)
