One question that I see asked again and again by couples trying for a child is “What is the best position to get pregnant?” Well even though some “experts” favour the missionary position (where the man is on top) as the best position for getting pregnant quickly, I believe it is the “quality” and “quantity” of sex that really counts.

Around 90% of couples agree that their sex lives are affected one way or the other by trying to get pregnant.

Initially many couples find that their sex life is enhanced because it can be liberating not to have to use any form of contraception. But if after sometime if pregnancy does not occur then their sex lives start to suffer.

Sex is a habit and therefore the more you have it the more you want it, but if you are now in a position where the only reason you have sex is because it might lead to pregnancy, then chances are you have got out of the habit of having it simply when you feel like it.

This type of “baby sex” starts to have an effect on your relationship.

When you are trying for a baby is when you should be having sex the most regardless of the position. It is therefore important to revitalise your sex life by having spontaneous sex and creating situations that used to get you in the mood for sex.

The other thing is that routine can be a real passion killer so aim to bring in an element of change. So a weekend break or even an overnight stay in a nearby hotel can revive your sex life and indeed your relationship.

So remember again no one single position is best to get pregnant in. What matters is the “quality” and “quantity” of sex. Make sure you enjoy
